Matthew Giel, PT, DPT

Matthew Giel, PT, DPT joined the physical therapy staff of Tri-State Physical Therapy (TSPT) in the Fox Chapel office in July 2018. He earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Dayton in 2018 and his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science/Pre-Physical Therapy from the University of Dayton in 2015. During his time earning his degree in Physical Therapy, Matthew conducted research focused on the lateral trunk musculature with surface EMG and presented at local and national conferences, including the Ohio Physical Therapy Association in Dayton, OH and the Combined Sections Meeting in New Orleans in early 2018.

His clinical experiences in both the orthopaedic and sports medicine realms of Physical Therapy — working with the general population as well as high school, collegiate, and professional athletes — have allowed him to gain a better appreciation for the effects that an integrated model of sports performance and rehabilitation can have on patient outcomes.

Matthew’s clinical interests involve working with all orthopaedic and sports injuries. He values one-on-one communication and patient education to ensure that each patient understands their diagnosis and the reasons behind the selected interventions. During his free time, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, fitness, and being outdoors.
